Too many advertisements in forums! I understand that sponsorship keeps this site going. However, having to sift through all the "ON SALE" threads to chat and gather info has become difficult. Maybe a separate forum for this stuff is in order. Someplace we can go to shop. I am sure I am not the only one.

A few people mention this now and then, but for a forum that has about 125K current members, not very many. Like many others here, I learned early on to put up with it because it pays the bills. I'm currently a paying member, but my membership and those ads mean you don't have to pay if you don't want to.
Those ads are only allowed in certain forums. The vendors who place those ads also have some guidelines they're given for how many and how often.
If it's so difficult for you to find your way around them, maybe you'd be happier in another forum.
I do use other sites more often these days.
Speaking from personal experience, I ran a cycling site for several years. We just took donations from users to pay the bills. When the offers of sponsorship it was a good thing. We actually made a little money. Over time the sponsors gained more and more control over the content. Eventually we started to lose users. We had many still joining but less using. Our sponsors saw this trend and started to drop us. It was eventually the demise of a once popular site. Another example is Hemmings Motor News. The started out just selling ads on ad pages throughout the publication but didn't let dealers sell alongside customers selling cars and parts. They now let dealers sell there products alongside the personal ads. That publication is about 1/3rd of the size it was 10 years ago. Many collectors have stopped using it. Not telling you how to run your buisness. Just food for thought.
