The envelope icons - not sure of the official name - when appearing to have letters inside the envelope indicate a thread with new postings.
Similar to other forums I hang out in, do these envelopes also have an arrow or some other indicatior next to those threads in which I have made a post?
While I am signed on to the forum, I do not see that arrow indicator for my previous thread posts. Just wondering if I need to have an option turned on, or does this function not exist on the forum.

The function that you describe is not enabled on this site as it's an extra layer of resources for a site this large and active.
You can keep track of topics you participated in by visiting the My Recent Topics section. Additionally, you can enable the option to automatically subscribe to topics you participate in, without email notification, so that the topics appear in your UserCP section whenever those topics are updated.

On a related note, I have seen some icons in the "envelope" column that are not enelopes. For example, in the F-Body Gen forum, there is a warning triangle, a bar graph, and a couple of thumbs up icons.

Those are called Post Icons and are part of the software. They are configurable (on/off) per section. It's possible that when the FBody section was created, it was not disabled as an oversight. Looking at past threads dating a few years ago in that section, many threads were created when with the OP selecting a post icon, so it would appear it's been that way for some time.
