Default Suggestion

Can the quote feature be disabled yet still allow someone to copy/paste some text or a pic to still use in their reply?

Many threads with a zillion pics yet they get quoted endlessly as if nooone knows what they responded to in the first place

It can sure make ya scroll (I know, I know).

Just a thought.

If you're asking if that feature exists in the default software, no it does not. It's possible there might be a 3rd party plugin that provides some control over the reply feature.

It sounds to me like you're basically asking if the user can control the quote, and they already can. As long as you leave the [quote=usernameofpersonbeingquotedhere;po stid] section intact, you can remove any reference in the quote while the quote will still show the user name of the person being quoted, as well as a link to the post.

A few forum members just not thinking when they're posting. Maybe letting them know what they're doing would help, maybe not.

Sure, people can take the time to delete text and hyperlinks when quoting a post, but the chances are that some members either don't know they can do any editing within the quote, or they don't want to take the time, or could care less if a thread goes to 5 pages because of large numbers of pics within the quoted posts.

Sometimes post replys will get long because of the multiple quote feature.

Maybe a sticky reminder about quoting over and over within a thread may help?
