I have been trying to load a picture of my car into my profile picture and the download keeps failing. By the time I resize the picture to 24KB it is the size of a pin head.
What am I doing wrong?
You had a big picture of your car in your profile at one time. What happened? Be sure you're making the distinction between a profile picture and an avatar picture. A profile picture only shows up when someone looks at your profile.
In another thread, I mentioned the size constraints on an avatar. That's the tiny picture you have under your name when you post in a thread. Right now you have the Corvette emblem as your avatar.
Your thread title talks about an avatar picture, but your post talks about a profile picture. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
I checked the permissions for the user group you're in and the Profile Picture (which is the picture that only appears in your profile) is restricted to 39KB (not 24KB that was previously mentioned) and 250 x 250 pixels.

Jim, thats my mistake, I thought that the profile picture was the same as the avatar picture. I will put my profile picture back the way it was but how do I get the avatar picture to replace the Corvette emblem.
JT thanks for the pixel correction.

I fixed the avatar for you. It looks like the copy you uploaded was an up-sized version from an originally smaller version, which is why it appeared that way. Once you resize an image to a lower resolution/size, if you attempt to increase it, it gets really distorted.
