Default Logs me off

Ever since I changed my password every time I leave, it logs me off. When I return it has my user name and password in the sign in box, but why do I have to keep signing in?

Make sure you have the "Remember Me" option selected when logging in so that the browser uses cookie-based login. Otherwise, when the session is over, you will be logged out and prompted to re-enter your user name and password.

If I may, I will also add that if you have your browser security set to clear cookies when closing that will clear the cookie that saves your password.

So, if you want your browser to keep sign-in information when closing you can't clear cookies.
This is not just Corvette Forum, its any web form that uses cookies to store information.

Thanks guys. I always do check the "remember me" box, so I guess it must be my security. Haven't changed anything though, so I wonder why it started doing this. As I said, it started after I had to change my password at the forum. Anyway, I'll check my security settings. Thanks again,

Brad

I replied to your other post:

This is not exactly an uncommon issue from time to time that can impact just about any site that uses cookies. Due to the way the cookies work, however, it usually just impacts one site at a time - atleast if it's a corrupt cookie.

Okay, I read the other post. How do I manually remove the CF cookies?
FYI, I always check the remember me button, still doesn't work. Re cookies settings on my computer, all the other forums I belong to don't sign me out and require that I re-sign in when I visit them, just CF, so it's not my computers cookie settings.

Thanks,
Brad

Like I mentioned earlier, sites use different cookies (often multiple cookies). So when a cookie gets corrupt, it usually impacts the site the cookie belongs to. So that doesn't mean there isn't a cookie issue with your browser, there likely is, it's just isolated to CF at this time. It's not uncommon to have cookie issues from time to time, and it will usually impact a given site.

How you manually delete the CF cookie depends on the browser you use.

Had to log in to answer, again. Anyway, I'll talk to somebody who is more computer savvy than I am about cookies.
Thanks,
Brad

If you tell me the browser and OS you have, I'll try posting specific instructions. The answer varies on your environment.

In FireFox, go to Tools, Options, Show Cookies and then find "Corvetteforum.com". Select it, click on Remove Cookies. Make sure you remove all Corvetteforum.com cookies (the parent, not just one cookie). Then, revisit Corvetteforum.com, make sure Remember Me option is selected, and then enter your username and password.

If this does not work, then, unfortunately, you have something else that is interfering with the cookie.

For what it's worth, I'm using the same setup (FireFox and XP) and don't experience the issue. These issues are almost always local to the browser. There are some cases when this isn't the case, but then it impacts a lot of members. So far, there's only been a few cookie-based issues here and there, which has been normal.
