Default Threads Are Slow to Open

Starting maybe two weeks ago, our home computer (Windows XP) started getting slow to open threads in CF. The different Forums here opened their main page pretty quickly, and other stuff on the internet was almost instantaneious, but opening an individual thread usually took 15-25 seconds.

Our laptop, running Vista, has a similar problem.

That home computer just died, and we got a new lightning-fast set running Windows 7; (Edit- and a new wireless router) same problem.

I have noticed that if I click on a thread and it doesn't open immediately, I can click on the Stop X to stop the download, then click the thread again; it opens instantly. This "fix" works virtually every time, and I've used it probably a hundred times over the last two days.

What's the problem?

What browser are you using? I'm assuming both computers in question are on the same network, so that could be a possible area.

When opening an individual thread and waiting, what does the browser status bar show?

Internet Explorer, should be latest version.

While waiting for the thread to open, I get that little "round and round" circle spinning.

What's confusing is that a speed test shows 19 mbps download speed, and other things on the internet open almost instantly. It's only the threads in CF that are usually slow, and i can get them more quickly by stopping the download and restarting the download, as mentioned in my OP.

No such problem here with either IE 9 or Firefox 5.0, running on a Vista machine by Dell. I am also using AdBlockerPlus with Firefox.

Once in awhile, 2 or 3 times a week, it takes 7 or 8 seconds to display the forum title page instead of 4 or 5 seconds, but that's about it. Never a delay to open a thread.
