Default Infraction Points Explained?

Searched but didn't find much......if there is an explanation thread please kindly point me to it.....if not....

I recently received an infraction - inappropriate image....nothing bad intended, but got burned by hot linking....results (albeit unintended) definitely worthy of the consequences. But I don't understand the point system. Here's what I got:

Date :07-31-2011
Expiration Date: 08-10-2011
Points:3
Inappropriate images

What does expiration mean? Do my points expire and return to 0 after that date?

What does 3 points mean? Does a number of points in a certain period mean set consequence? Are points still tracked after (if) they expire? Does a certain amount of points equal perma-ban?

I try to stay within the rules.....but I hang mostly in PR&C and that neighborhood can get kinda rough at times......just want to be informed of the rules.....

Thanks.

It does mean that you was given 3 points worth of Infractions for the offense, and that those 3 points will be removed (expire) on 8/10/11.

3 points is worth a 1-day ban. Your account was given a 1-day ban on 7/31/11 and returned back to normal on 8/1/11. However, you still have 3 points on your account until they expire on 8/10/11. So if you get another 3 point Infraction before 8/10/11, you then get 3 day ban.

The more points you're given, the longer the ban will be. It is possible to accumulate points before they expire, in which case they will be added up for longer banning.

Although the points do expire on the expire date, they are kept on account for references.

Here's a similar question. Or questions, rather. I got an infraction recently that said zero points, plus the expiration date.
  1. Can you help me locate the list of point assessments? (ie: 1 point for this, 2 points for that, etc)
  2. Given the explanations above, what would zero points really mean?
  3. Would one receive points if another member posted a rule breaker on my thread?

.

not sure how you got 0 points unless it was just a warning..

0 points is simply a warning. When an Infraction is given, it can come with points or without points (i.e. warning) but both come with an expiration date. Both go on your account, however, 0 points (i.e. warning) means nothing else occurs to your account.

I received a warning about a week ago (0 points). Yesterday, I received an infraction for a comment that, I believe, did not violate any rules. My question is, does a warning create a flag on your posts for more scrutinized evaluation by moderators? In other words, each time I post, is there a clear visual indication to users with appropriate permissions that I have been warned recently?

I'm sure anyone can go off the deep end and get a perma ban pretty easy.

You don't really have to "go off the deep end".....just speak you mind in the wrong way to the wrong person at the wrong time.....
