Is anyone looking at this? This site is very annoying when you have to wait for ads to load. Again, the Corvette related ads load fast and the others from other sources are just an exercise in futility. The changes made to bring in outside ads are not working like they should. Wouldn't it be better to have a user see the ads than leave the site out of frustration? Site used to work just fine in all page loads.

Yes. But as you can see, results are mixed as there are some (myself included) that have not seen such an issue - especially to the degree a few noted. If it takes 6 minutes, for example, there's probably more going beyond CF webserver requests would timeout before that period.

I know the ads pay the bills and such but it be nice if we could ad delete as an option under User CP.

Pages are now loading slower than my old dial up. If they load at all.

I switch from IE to Firefox, back and forth just to find things.

If I attempt to load a page I have more success at going back to a previous page and then back again. The ads are the culprit it appears.

Now first off this is not a knock on the forum it’s just my observations and hopefully it will help. As many on here know my computer knowledge stops not far after push the on button on the tower. I’m not a geek as proof of that is I never post pictures.

I like many here have had many problems with the speed of this forum. Now that is a bit strange as I’m on 2 other car forums, a few gun forums and a couple finical forums. THEY ALL WORK OK, it’s just this forum! What I have learned to do when the forum is slow or even locks up is to go to another open browser (I stay with Internet Explorer)and switch to other forums that are working right and after a bit go back to the CF.

I also do a variation of that by keeping two forums open for CF and when one goes to sleep just put it back on the tool bar and bring up the other. Work till that one plugs up and then repeat the moves. I can do this many times a day!

Again this only happens at the CF so in my electronically challenged mind, pure deduction says whatever the problem is it’s something happening because of the CF. I’m no Sherlock Holms but this is so blatant Stevie Wonder could see it.

PS Im on RR through TW.

As posted in post #17, those highlighted messages during the page load are where the problem lies. If I see a message with N2922 in it, I can guarantee the page will take much longer than normal to load and the ad that shows up in the banner will be one that is not related to Corvette. To avoid this, when I see that the site will take the path to load a page using the N2922 message, I reload the page until it loads like it should. This may take about 4 or so attempts but it works as a primitive workaround. Sometimes I just give up out of frustration because I know it works as it should for one ad source but not for the other. This is evidently your ad provider's problem in not being compatible with some configurations. What is api.viglink.com?

We are looking into the reports.

If anyone uses Firefox or Chrome and could use the Firebug plugin, which will show the elements and their load times, that is experiencing the issues, it will certainly help us further looking into the reports and specifically see what is occuring with the necessary information.

I have been watching this problem for a while now and it appears that something was done recently to correct it. For the past week or so the pages now pretty much load as expected, no matter what ad source is being used. Whatever was done has corrected the problem I was seeing. Thank you.

^

I've been having the same exact issues as described in this thread for the past few days.
Using Google Chrome as web-browser.

We're still looking into the issues but I still need more information to be able to better investigate. Like I said before, those using Chrome or Firefox can use the plugin called Firebug and it will show load times for each element. That will show exactly what is taking time loading and help assist us in investigating and getting a resolution.

That aside, I often see two types of slowness being reported and they're usually unrelated. One is due to high CPU load on the local (members machine) and the other is due to possible network concerns.

Slowness definition 1:
CPU load on the members machine is high while visiting the forum. Scrolling up and down is choppy. Smilies may not animate or may be very slow to animate. Typing in text may not immediate appear in the textbox and has to catch up. This is generally not a network issue but is due to high CPU load on the members machine as the members machine is having trouble running Internet Explorer due to resource issues. This could be due to an ad that is resource intensive.

Slowness definition 2:
Webpage partially loads - usually the top header loads. Rest of the content below the header may take some time to load. After page is loaded, scrolling is normal, smilies animate normally, typing in text appears normally in the textbox.

That said, dbdave, who started this thread, reported the issue disappearing:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1582454331-post29.html while others are reporting the issue. Meaning, results are mixed.

^ It has been excruciatingly slow the longer I am logged in...condition #2 above. My home internet speed
is much slower than my office--no problems when connected via the latter's network, but I don't log-in to CF
from there as often.

...and within the past few minutes, the pages are again loading very quickly without delays.
Strange, but hopefully the issue is being resolved...
