Default Save or post to a thread, must use back button 4 time

This started out with not receiving email notifications of activity to a thread in which I either posted a response, or originally created it.

Was told that I must select option to be notified by email. I had thought that this was a default, but found that it is not. This was the cause of my problem.

Just had a couple of thoughts on how to make it a bit simpler.

And of course my question on how to get back to the index after having responded to a post, or asked for email notification of a thread. Further information below,,,I copy and pasted this and was told to check with JT for advice.

Thank you

I do know that if once you have made a decision for a specific thread, that decision remains in effect for that thread until you have changed it,,,,I think.

Another question that comes to mind that perhaps you have an answer for. Is there some way to position back on the index of threads to your last location, after you have made a choice to save a thread or made a posting to one? The only way that I have found to do it, is to hit the "back" button 4 times in succession. I had asked this question before, but wondered if anyone had found a shortcut that I have not.

Your account shows that you use "Instant email notification" for subscriptions. This will be the default behavior. So anytime you post a reply to an existing thread or create a new thread you'll receive email notification email when there is new activity. Note you will not receive email notifications for every single new response while you're not on the forums as to prevent email flooding.

You can adjust the default behavior by going to the UserCP, Edit Options and then going to Default Thread Subscription Mode.

You can override the default subscriptions per thread by using the "Thread Subscription" section under the "Additional Options" section where you compose your response.

Regarding navigation, there a "bread crumb" on the top and bottom. See Attachment.

The bread crumb will help you navigate to the main index page ("Corvette Forum"), the parent forum (if forum is a child forum), and the forum index listing for the forum where the thread is located in.

Thank you for your prompt response. I had thought that I had set such a default. However at times, I have posted new threads and received no notification of any activity, but when I go to those threads I will find a wealth of activity responses. The most recent was this one, I thought it odd no responses, then checked it out and found a bunch.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...post1582733433

I can remember a few others. As I computer professional myself (some 35 years in the IBM mainframe operating system technical world) I am well aware of how some things just slip thru,,,bugs, system designs, and the completely unexplainable phenomenon.

No complaints, my curiousity is satisfied, I no longer have to be paranoid regarding checking the email selection option.

I will check out you recommendation about the crumbs for the backspace. This one has always been a nuisance, perhaps your suggestion will take care of it.

One other note. I had paid to be upgraded to lifetime silver. Was designated that for a couple of days, and then for some reason lowered back to regular status. I've posted Renee on this several days ago and have not heard back. Posted again today,,,,may be a bug somewhere. I noted where someone else in the HELP forum had a similar issue and apparently a bug with some dual status caused it.

Thank you

Roger,

The email notifications can be explained as us having email issues with Comcast, which appears to be your email provider. Specifically, Comcast is "temporarily deferring" email connections from our email servers to theirs. This can happen when the provider thinks that we're a spammer. Unfortunately, fixing those issues is difficult and time consuming.

Administrator Savewave is also a Comcast customer and has been having the same issues with some email notifications. We investigated the issue and found the above. As you are a Comcast customer, you might try reporting the issue to Comcast about them "filtering" emails to you - especially emails that are legitimate - as they may be more responsive with your issue as you are a paying customer of theirs and it's Comcast that is filtering our email connections and causing you to not get all your emails from us.

Regarding the membership, you do show Lifetime Silver on your account and have since 12/10/12. What happened is that you still have your older membership (Supporting) also on your account. What happened was, on 12/14 when your older membership (Supporting) was renewed as you still have some years left on it, it overridden your Lifetime Silver - despite both are on your account. I manually updated your account to show the Lifetime Silver. This issue may occur again if you either change your email address or on 12/10/13 when your older membership (Supporting) is updated as it still has some time left.

Damn your good. I am puzzled regarding your statement that I have several "years" left on my support membership..

Do you ever sleep?

Thank you

Roger,

Your older membership (Supporting) still shows as valid on your account and shows to expire on 12/14/13. Your upgraded Lifetime Supporting membership never left your account. Since the older membership (Supporting) is still active on your account along with your upgraded Lifetime Supporting membership, and because the older membership (Supporting) is the first subscription, that is why the issue you describe with your displayed membership status changing had occurred.

This sometimes happens to other members. I would assume the only way this would be fixed is 1)the older membership finally expires or 2) the older membership is removed from the account. Since I'm not in accounting, I don't want to remove the older membership on the account while it's still valid.

I should note I'm going off of what I see on your CorvetteForum account, however, Renee would have final say on this over me as she is directly involved with memberships and accounting. But the above is the explanation as to why this occurred. I don't know if the older memberships, when a member upgrades, are in fact considered "valid". Perhaps they're just not removed. Again, Renee would have the say on that over me. I can only explain why you seen the technical issues.

JT. Thanks for checking this all out for me. I was somewhat interested as I just had paid 75 bucks to upgrade to a lifetime. If I had all this credit, not certain that amount was required. Not a big deal however, unless perhaps it could have gotten me to almost Gold status.

Thanks
Roger
