Default What triggers "Last edited" message?

Sometimes when I post and read the text after it actually hits the live forum, I see a need to make a change, so I hit Edit.

After I save, all is well. Sometimes I see a small note at the bottom of the post that says, "Last edited ..."

My question is, what triggers whether or not the Last Edited statement appears?
  1. Is it the time between posting and editing? If so, does that time vary with the length of the post?
  2. Does it depend on if the post has had any views since the unedited version was posted?
  3. Does it depend on if someone has replied since the original post?

I have no problem with this, I'm just curious why sometimes it appears and sometimes not.

Editing a post after 2 minutes from it being originally posted will trigger that message.

Thanks. Does the clock restart after every save, or do I have 2 mins to make as many individual edits I can?

I've had a few rather wordy posts. Although I've practically worn out my preview button, sometimes mistakes (usually grammatical) slip through, and I end up editing more than once.

You only get the two minutes starting from the time you hit the "Submit Reply" for the original post. If you go back to an edit screen and it takes longer than 2 minutes to make a change, you get the "Last editied...) line.

You can make multiple edits of the same post, but you have to do it within that original time frame to not get the line.

No, the clock does not restart. After 2 minutes have passed since the original message was posted, the Edited message will appear if the message is edited. Subsequent edits, regardless of time, will cause the Edited message to be updated with the most recent time of last edit.
