Default Question about forum icons.

I don't want to cross post, but I was in OT and asked what were the meanings of the forum icons. I'll just link to it and perhaps an answer will be forthcoming.
TIA

The difference between and is the difference between activity.

The former is used when a thread is considered "hot". A "hot" thread is 500+ views or 50+ posts.

Both indicate you, the browser, have replied to the thread.

Thank you, but what then is the meaning of this?
I have also seen a thread change from one, to the other, and then back.

That is the number of replies for that thread. It's defined in the header column as shown

No, I understand what the number of replies and views are. I'm trying to undersand when the icons change.

In your screenshot above, the icon for this thread is yellow ().

For me on my screen now it is this.

It has now changed back and forth several times while I've been following the thread, and certainly views/replies can't be the key. Clearly you are correct, it is this: when views > 500. But the relationship between and is still unexplained.

Means you've replied to the thread and there is no new posts in the thread.

I have updated the Help Guide with more recent information since there has been a few changes over the past few months with functions and design:
