On it's own and unexpectedly, the display goes from clean and simple to one containing more info than I want ("multi-page thread", "go to first post", "go to last".) Any way to prevent that from happening?
It sounds to me that the alt tags are appearing instead of the images. It could be any number of things - such as the inability for your network to connect to CF to download and display the images instead of the alt tags, a browser issue, etc.

It's not a known issue. I use Firefox 99.9% and don't have that issue. What you describe is the alt tags appearing in place of images. That is normal if the images won't display. For whatever reason, the images aren't always displaying for you. So it's either a connection issue between you and CF or a browser issue.
I would almost suspect an issue with your browser because those images should be cached and not need reloaded. So either there's a problem with your browser not properly handling those images or you're using 3rd party software or browser add-ons that are causing the issue.

I believe you are correct. How do I access my cache settings in Firefox? Thanks
