Default Why start a new thread?

I've seen a few instances on this forum, in which someone gets knocked for reviving an old thread, even though it's regarding the same subject.

This evening I came upon a thread in which someone posted pictures a few years ago of a beautiful custom Vette.
A couple of members came across it recently & posted their appreciation for the car. Then a moderator closed it stating the thread is old & a new one needs to be started.

My question is, Why?

If the thread hadn't been revived, I & I'm sure others, wouldn't have had the opportunity to see that beautiful machine.
Also, the posts were directly related to that car.

Should a new thread be started stating, "Hey, there's another thread with an awesome Vette!"?

I would think if the post is directly related to the thread, the moderators would want it posted there, to keep the forum clean & free of duplicate threads.

This isn't a complaint, but an observation & a sincere question. Is there a reason which I'm not understanding?

If you have a question about moderation, it is best to ask the Moderators in Private Message or email as stated in our Guidelines:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...questions.html

Since you indicated a Moderator closed the thread stating to start a new one, you should be able to easily know who closed the thread so that you can ask them directly in Private Message or email.
