I've tried to log -on 14 times, always with my password at first, and always the forum machinery posted back to me the my web address isn't right ? It's the same address I've used since 1999.
So I registered using my other email account and changing one letter in my forum name. Is this normal or am I just too old to be a member?

No, it is not normal.
When you log in, you're not asked for your "web address", which I assume you mean email address.
If you're being told the username/password is incorrect, then it is incorrect. The system does not miscalculate a username/password like a calculator would not error on a simple 2+2 calculation.
Note that passwords are CaSe sensitive.
If you want assistance, you'll need to provide your username as well as the exact error message and issue so that we're not guessing.
