I don't seem to be getting the notification e-mails when I get private messages and replies to threads that I'm subscribed to (with instant notification). I checked the settings in my user CP options and everything seems to be set correctly. I still get e-mail from the forum (from time to time) to check out stuff on the front page, so I don't think it is a spam filter issue with my e-mail settings.

Email notifications are working on a global level. Your settings are correct. It is likely your email provider is filtering your email at their email server level or the mail client level, both of which we have no control over. If you're using a pop-based email client, log into the web-based email client and check for Spam/Junk/Bulk folder and their contents. Depending upon settings, some pop-based email clients don't download content from those folders.

Beyond that, there isn't a lot we can do when an email provider filters our emails as we're not their customer and have no direct control. You might file a report with your email provider.

JT,

Do you know how come I stop getting instant notifications when I am not viewing the forum?

Example: I reply to a hot thread so I now I am automatically subscribed. While I am online still, people are replying and I get the email notifications.

HOWEVER, I then close my browser and go back to work. When I get home and go online, I see that there are 25 more replies to the same thread, but maybe I received only 5 more email notifications.

Why does this happen?! Do I need to have the browser open and have an "active" session at all times in order to receive emails for every reply to threads I'm subscribed to?

Thanks.

The forum will not send out email notifications for every reply made to a subscribed thread if you are not active on the forum. That is, and has been, normal. The logic is that can easily get out of control with email notifications if one is sent for every single reply.
