JohnZ,
That is the message you get when your identity is not automatically logged in when you visit corvetteforum.com. Most of us have cookies that automatically log us in each time we visit. It's likely a problem in the settings in your computer. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you how to fix it, but perhaps someone else here or in your personal circle can help.
Shocking to see "Dumb question" and JohnZ included in the same thought. Now I see it's about the world of digital chaos that afflicts us all, so all is normal.
Hey John, ask one of your grandkids to get you squared away......
The real young generation doesn't understand full size computers much better than us old guys. They're all about smart phones and apps. And just as cars have gotten easier to use and too hard to fix for most young drivers, smart phones have done much the same thing.
My only question is why do you keep having this stupid "Ask Question" thing appear?
I am seeing that, too, John.
Do you use Firefox?
Do you find you have to log in to this website each time you wish to post?
I use Firefox release 60.0.1 and have had the same issue for a week or two, possibly since I was auto-upgraded to this release. If I want to post I have to log in to this forum every time I bring up the Firefox browser, even though I tell the Corvetteforum website to remember me. If I bring up the forum in a new tab while I'm logged in to the website in another tab, I don't get the "Ask a Question" pop-up.
Similar issues with eBay and a couple of other websites began happening about the same time.
I've checked my browser "Options/Privacy & Security" settings and they seem fine.
The Chrome browser does not have those issues, but Firefox is my preferred browser.
John, I see the same thing when I forget to re-enable cookies before starting up the CF web page. I'd start by checking the cookie settings on your computer.
Oh, and congratulations on once again becoming the worlds most senior junior member:
Always remember, there are no stupid questions. But you have been on this Forum for awhile so you know, holy crap ! There are a lot of stupid answers !
I also get the pop-up "Ask A Question" when I am not signed into the forum. The pop-up goes away once I sign in. Cookies are enabled, use Windows 10, chrome browser.

I get it until I log in, then it goes away. I use Safari on the MacBook, but also get it on Windows based computer with Edge.

This may do the trick if you are using the Firefox browser:
I asked the Mozilla community for help and received the following information that appears to have fixed the problem for me in Firefox release 30.0.1;
(apparently the newest automatic release changed some default settings):
This is where/how you enter that information in Firefox (then press enter key):
This is how my settings look now:
You may have to reboot Firefox, and you'll probably need to sign on to websites (like corvetteforum) once to get it working properly again.

Reason: added info
It was originally explained to be an attempt by the forum to present a welcoming atmosphere and to get first time visitors involved. There may be no "dumb questions" (although this is often belied by many postings), but "ask a question" is certainly a dumb idea. Thankfully it does not appear if you are logged in.
