I don't mind seeing car ads on a car site, but why the heck are we seeing this clickbait crap every time we log in? there is a reason I go here instead of national enquirer.com. I love this forum, and I can't remember complaining before, But I'm sure there are better advertisers out there than the stuff that has been up there recently.

The simple and short answer is the ads help to keep this site free to use despite it's not free to operate. CorvetteForum has supporting members, such as yourself, but also relies on advertising for expense and revenue due to this being a for-profit business-owned website and cannot run on a $9.99/month plan. There is hardware, software and people that help keep the site up, online, and fresh.
Ads are not likely to please people, no matter what content, but ads can't be expected to be 100% specific to the content. The fact is, people do have other hobbies and interests. Ads will not be the same for every user. Ads can be served based on your location (IP address) as well as your browsing history. There is a lot involved in the ad business and how it works. But If you don't like the ads that you refer to as "click-bait", I would suggest to not click on them.
