Default Always losing my threads

I’m so dam frustrated over this problem. No matter what way I word the search, I cannot find an answer.
Too many times I’m composing a new thread to post and if I need to leave the page for some reason or get timed out, I find all my writing is gone. The subject line remains - that’s it, what am I missing?

Thank you for your help,
Rich

If you go to the specific section you was composing a new thread and New Thread button, if there was any saved draft it would show like the illustration below:

The system saves a draft of your typed messages, periodically. If it doesn't work, then it's possible you're using 3rd party programs that alter the appearance and/or functionality as scripts are required for this to function.

Regarding time out, are you getting logged out? Do you have to enter your username and password? If so, that is not normal and again would be an issue with your browser. Either you have a corrupt cookie, blocking cookies, 3rd party program is deleting them, or your browser is deleting them. One can stay logged into the system for months.

BTW, I always suggest if someone types in a really long message, to copy the message using the Copy command within Windows. What happens if your browser stops responding? Your computer freezes? Your ISP goes offline? The backbone from your ISP to CorvetteForum stops working? All those things are beyond CorvetteForum's, and your, control and may happen anytime.

It happened again tonight. I was writing a long reply and all of a sudden an “error” message came up and my entire page was gone. When I manage to get the “Restore . . . . .” Message at the bottom left hand of the reply window I click on it and at times it may change color but it doesn’t do what I need.

When I said the system times out and everything is gone It’s because There was a prolonged period of in-activity the IPad conserves power and shuts off. All I have to do is hit the “on” button and usually It returns me the the spot I was looking at or working on. The frustrating part is when whatever I lose all my writing I cannot find a way to retrieve it. This started last year when Corvette Forum changed the way some things worked. I was under the impression Corvette Forum had a reason to take off my reply but there was a way to get it all back because I sometimes notice a “Auto Saved” message appearing on the bottom right side of the message window.

still wishing you can help

Write what you want on notepad or MSword and then copy/paste it to the message box.

"Error" is not a valid message from our side so it was either your browser or there was a more complete error message. Not enough information to go further on.

I would suspect that when it powers down it flushes the memory, especially if too much resources are used that could drain the battery. Almost every single website is different, with different media and different coding. Some sites, especially text-only, may suspend without issue while others may have enough media and code that it can't be suspended without flushing the memory to conserve battery during sleep mode.

As I stated previously, my advise is to copy long writings. Your wireless connection, your ISP, the backbone, CorvetteForum's servers, your iPad, etc., can all have some sort of failure that could result in the same lost work. Therefore, copy long writings either with the Copy/Paste function or as another member suggested by composing the message in an application such as notes.
