Great idea, tell us about this supposed "malware" and then give us the link...
First the link was primarily for the moderators and second, it doesn't infect your computer unless you fall for the bait. And third, you aren't locked in by having the bait displayed on your screen; all that one need to do is "end task" on the browser.
It also may be useful to someone who has yet to click on the link.
If the above is not clear, be sure to ask for clarification.
My apologies for assuming most everyone would understand,
Nick
I get no malware notification. Most likely you are getting the notification due to a bad advertising link. I run an ad-blocker, so I don't get any ads. CF does not have direct control over the advertising content. Moving this to the Help Forum so IB will see it.
Nick, I agree with Zora_Vette in that more information is needed. If you were informed it was a malware issue, it should have provided more details. Also, who is claiming it is malware?
I just checked the thread and did not receive any notice. I also didn't see others report such an issue.
Also, I just checked with Google. As of today, they have no reports on the link containing malware. As you know, Google does keep track of that information and is shown to Google Chrome users for protection.
It could have been someone posted a bad link and/or hotlink, but I'm currently not seeing either. Aside from that, it could have been an ad or it could be your browser/computer infected. Right now, without further details and being unable to see any evidence of an issue, it's difficult for us to investigate.

Some folks on CF don't understand that the malware issue extends from the ads at the top of the page. The ads appear randomly and from one to the next most all are ok. I tried to isolate this issue to one ad in particular, but after the second attempt (first two got the malware), it stopped producing the problem screen and I was not able to isolate the ad.
BTW, my PC is fine and FTR, I visited about 35 pages on CF this morning as I do most mornings and everything else was ok.
So let's hear it for shooting the messenger; pretty common here, some guys just like to twist the knife.

You're welcome,

pcguy2u, I don't think that's the case at all. We requested information when you reported a malware concern. We need that type of information to investigate. Going through the responses, one person asked for more information, one suggested it could be an ad, I asked what exactly the message was and what software reported the malware, and another suggested to check your PC. All responses are on target. It could be an ad. It could be your machine. Since we still don't know what exactly the error message was you're reporting and what software reported it despite asking, and because Google and no other report this issue, it's extremely difficult to act on such little information given. You did ask if anyone else is seeing the concern, which some answered that question.

Just an FYI; this situation continued until a couple of weeks ago, it now has not happened since. FTR, I have not changed anything on my PC, no new software and no changes to the anti-virus software.
My guess is that the culprit was eliminated by the administrators.
I have not changed anything on my PC, no new software and no changes to the anti-virus software.
Most software updates on PCs occur in the background. It would not be normal, nor secure, to have 3 months of no updates on a PC! I'd hope your anti-virus, your Windows OS, in addition to any other security software you're using, did update in those last 3 months.
