Default Two character searching

Why is it that this forum cannot allow for 2 character searching? I realize small common words may need a filter but *all* of the corvettes are designated by two characters, c1 through c8 and we cannot do a direct generation search without getting this error:

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: c5, c6

you can do a two character ("c7" e.g.) search on ebay, amazon, google etc and it pulls up the relevant info, why can't this forum allow for the same?

can the search be coded to not filter out specifically c1, c2, c3, c4, c5, c6,c7, c8 and future generation designations?

we can search for "c6z" without issue but searching for "c6" will be filtered and not result in anything...its a bit frustrating.

thanks.

To answer why, it comes down to resources. There are 51 million posts in the database here on CorvetteForum. To snip a quote from the vBulletin search:
Smaller words take longer to search for as they are more common.
However, CorvetteForum uses a different search but that doesn't rewrite the fact it still requires more resources to do more. While I don't think it's common for any comparable site to CorvetteForum to have 2 character searches, I can ask the team about the issue you raise as it is understood and valid.

Given that search has long been part of Google's business model, and they also have a little more resources, of course Google can do it. In fact, you can use Google to search CorvetteForum by simply going to Google and typing in your keywords and then adding site:corvetteforum.com

thank you for looking into the possibility.

if there's any way to allow for just the current "c1" thru "c8" two character searches to not be filtered, it would help the forum tremendously.
