How to search topics
I am not a new member but I didn't see another place to ask.
I need advice on how to use the search function. Whenever I search I seem to get a bunch of non helpful and non relevant results and it is impossible (for me) to at least get search results limited to a generation (ie C1).
Is there a guide or advice on searches?
Thanks for any insights!
(Some members even get annoyed with previously asked questions and recommend a search.)

Not sure if it is the perfect answer, but I like to use the Advanced search (under "Threads" at above right of the page). https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/search.php.
Once you are there you can search by keywords or the specific subject and narrow your search down to specific areas of the Forum, and subcategories. You may still get some larger groupings but not nearly as many as with a more general search.
As an example, (and using a made up company name); suppose you wanted to check transaction feedback on Smith & Jones Corvette and Yugo Parts. You would type the company name: Smith & Jones Corvette and Yugo Parts in the "Keywords" block on the left hand side of the page under Search Forums;
Then go to the right hand side of the page and under "Search in Forums" scroll down to
Help & Feedback
Transactions Feedback
Highlight Transactions Feedback
Then click on "Search Now"
This should then take you to the Transactions Feedback section and only show you comments made by members (good or bad) about this business.
I also usually click "Also check in child forums" just above "Search Now" in case there are secondary areas where this information may be located.
Convoluted, I know, but I cannot get the Advanced Search page to copy and paste.

Any way to limit a search to generations?
A search for a C1 issue is quite different than a C6.
Thanks for the ideas!

You can limit the search to generations and to subjects under generations. Gen 1 and Gen 2 are lumped together but all other generations are separate. Under most generations are subject areas such as "General", "Tech/Performance", "Parts For Sale/Wanted", etc.
Once you enter your keyword(s) on the left side of the Advanced Search page, go to the right side of the page and under Search in Forums, you will find all the various forums. Scroll down (New Member, In Memoriam, Ask Tadge, C8 Z06/ZR1, C8 General, C8 Tech, etc, etc; C7 .....; C6.....
I think after you try it once it will make lots of sense to you.
Best wishes with your searches.

Doing the above uses Google's search engine to search CorvetteForum based on crawled results and their search engine. Google's main business was Search and so it's pretty difficult for anyone to compete with Google's resources.
