shift clutch problem C 4 4+3 '88

shift clutch problem C 4 4+3 '88
After carefully cleaning my engine , I drove my car about a half mile down the road and
could not shift gears.....pulled over to side of road and waited a few minutes and managed
to get rolling again but still had a hard time getting in gear but did make it home. Today is second day
since the problem and I drove around the parking lot of my condo and had no problem getting in
reverse and shifting from 1st to 2nd gear....am afraid to get on the road to do a test because I might
get stranded......clutch has maybe 300 miles on it and trans has always worked well ....could water
have caused this problem ? I guess I will have to suck it up and hit the road to really find out. Anyone
have any thoughts ? Thanks in advance
