Default Help with linking permalinks within the same page after edit?

So I have this thread here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-websites.html

My solution is in post 12. I scroll to post 12, get the permalink, I then edit post 1 with the update and use the permalink URL option to "jump" to the solution. But instead it is spawning a new tab. There are no document achors, so that option is out, so I do I make the webpage jump from post 1 to 12 on the same page without creating a new tab on someone's browser to jump down to the solution without having to scroll or having to spawn a new tab?

I don't believe this is possible because links added within post, by default, open in a new window. I think it could be done on the Admin side if we added relevant BBCode substitutions. But this is probably the first time in 15 years I've seen this request.

I see it working on multiple other sites, so it is the first time I've tried it here and surprised that it didn't work.

It really follows the "quoted by" right arrow marker that jumps the user back to the post that is being quoted. I was thinking it would work the same way.

Hopefully it can be some how supported?

Thanks for the response.

It works in the Quote because, internally to the software, the referenced post has it's own "class" that allows the link to not have the new window tag that would normally be added to links within posts.

So it's not very simple to change.
