Go to UserCP
View all Subscribed Threads

All subscribed threads will be listed along with current subscription status. Select those you want to change, or use the Check/Uncheck All box to mass-select from the table's header, then change the options for that thread with the bottom-right drop-down menu:

That covers existing subscriptions. If you want to change future, and the default, subscription settings:

You'll need to go to UserCP, Edit Options and change the Default Thread Subscription Mode setting.

Nearly all account-based options are in the UserCP. We encourage members to take some time to browse around the site, read the Announcements and Stickies, as well as browse the UserCP.

Sorry I think I misunderstood. That notification bell area will show you Unread (new) Private Messages as well as tagging (being mentioned in posts - via PMs), Unread (new) Visitor messages on your profile, etc., but it does not show alerts of new content to your subscribed content.

For that, you can use the UserCP, which shows new activity in your subscriptions:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/usercp.php
