BRIAN J. RUTH Aug.26,1960 - Feb.1 2013 My 2 Brothers & I Grew up in North Wildwood. Our best years as children were those years living on the Corner of 18th & Central.I was the oldest of the 3 of us,next was my middle brother Chris, then our Baby brother Brian. We were 3&half years apart in age. Our father passed away Suddenly when I was 4 and Brian only 15 months old. The sadness was tempered thru time, and the great community here. We were free spirits roaming the island at will at that tender age & time when kids could and would “Go out & Play” .Moms rules were simple. Be home when street lights were on, Never go past the Waters edge [kept us on island] and look both ways. We had our bikes, sold the Newspapers and ice cream on the Beach, Spent our daily earnings on the “Boards” every night. Went to Margaret Mace. But things changed as Moms Health failed at a very young age,so our lives did too.Our grandmother moved us to Philadelphia. Our hearts were broken. We were placed into Girard College in Philadelphia to be Educated & raised. Mom hung in for a few more years. We all missed our home here in Wildwood. Only one of us ever returned to live here again. I bought my home in the Crest in 1997. Retired here for good in 2005. Years took us all in different places. Mom has been buried with our Father in the US National Cemetery nearly 30 years now. I recall my Brother Brian putting a Wildwood Seashell in her Casket before it was closed.Part of this Island with her forever. Chris found a home & career in Philly, Brian went on to become a soldier in the US Army. He retired to the Pocono Mountians in 2008. His wife & son loved the Mountians,Brians dream to return to the shore was lost to his devotion to his family. He was a Happy, easy going free spirit. On Febuary 1, 2013 GOD took Brian from us in a way we never saw coming. He passed Instantly of a Massive Coronary. He was Buried with full Military Honors in the US National Cemetery in Bath New York. Brian never forgot Wildwood. Always visiting me and recalling the days as a child terrorizing the Island. We would laugh and tear up recalling those magical days. I took a walk to the Beach the other night, looked up into the sky and noticed a new star shining over the ocean. I thought of Brian!
THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THIS... WILL BE PUBLISHED IN A SMALL LOCAL NEWSPAPER ON THE ISLAND HERE... THX ED

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. To lose someone so young and suddenly is just devastating to family and friends and makes it that much harder to deal with. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family.

I stood at his grave yesterday to pay my respects to a fellow soldier. i would expect that his headstone will be in place soon. I too, someday, expect to be laid to rest at the Bath National Cemetery.

I'll be back up to the Bath VA on Thursday the 28th and will check to see if his headstone has been placed yet. If it has I'll post a picture of it for you.
