I was not sure if I was going to post this, but today I think this needs to be said.
I was working with Ryan to buy his 2001 C5-Z06 and had made a deal with him and was waiting for a break in the weather to come down to meet him and basically take the car home. I spoke on the phone and did lots of texting. Ryan was always very prompt in his reply's or answering his phone.
March15th I was texting him and he said he had "just brought home his new C6-Z06 black on black- haha!"
Im sure he was loving this!
Earlier this week as I drew closer to nice weather-dry roads in Mpls, I was preparing to come down to his Dads place in Illinois to get the car and I didn't get any reply. I texted again and no reply and then called him. The phone went immediately to voice mail. I though this was unlike Ryan and on a hunch did a google search for his name yesterday. This is what I found below and I have to say I'm shocked and stunned, this has affected me deeply, and I have had a hard time with this. This could have been any of our sons, he was one of us, and one of the good guys.
I shared similar interests with Ryan as engineering as a profession, Corvettes, and being a physical fitness fanatic.
Sycamore man dies in single-vehicle crash

SYCAMORE – A Sycamore man died Saturday after being ejected from his Corvette in a single-vehicle crash.
Ryan T. Ahle, 23, of Sycamore, was headed south on New Lebanon Road in a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette when he lost control of his vehicle south of the intersection at Derbyline Road, left the roadway and rolled over, said DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Tony Grum.
Ahle, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the DeKalb County coroner. The crash occurred about 1:35 p.m. Saturday.
Grum said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, and the death likely was caused by speeding and failure to wear a seat belt. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.

Sorry to hear that. He was much too young
I hope everyone stays aware of the risks due to the above
the death likely was caused by speeding and failure to wear a seat belt.

A friend of mine had talked with Ryan a lot about his C5 since they both had C5Z's and hung out around the same area. I'm pretty sure I've met him a time or two. Always sucks to lose someone so young and to our hobby. God bless.
