Hi gang, I don't presently own a 'vette but way back in ancient history I owned a '60 that I hot-rodded with a 327 fuelie motor, etc. Don't cringe you purists out there, it had already been hot-rodded before I got it. I paid all of $500 bucks for it. It had a 283 that burnt more oil than gas, a worn-out clutch with a no-synchro first three speed with one of those wonderful spark-o-matic mystery shifters. It had the skinny tires and no hubcaps, but it was my first 'vette! Being a relatively poor young man at the time, I begged, borrowed and traded for parts for my new baby. I wound up with a 327 with the optional fuelie cam and heads, Edelbrock intake, etc. I had a pair of headers from a Nova that I modified to fit. I put H70/15's on the front and L60/15's on the back. The body was anything but straight and most of the chrome was gone, but I thought it was beautiful! Well, someone ran a red light and T-boned me. I wound up selling it as I needed a car and couldn't take the time or money to fix it. The insurance money wasn't nearly enough.
Anywayz... I've missed the car ever since. I getting to the point where I'd like to build a project car, and I sure would love to build another '60 'vette. I know it would be sacrilege to mess with any complete early 'vettes, but what do you think the chances are of finding just a body, or even possibly a repro? I've seen reproduction '53's, but that body style just doesn't appeal to me. I'd like to find something in the early sixties.
