Hello to all! Congrats on a very informative board and the maturity level of it's members! As a 52 year old, life-long car enthusiast, it's refreshing to see to this compared to many other car forums.
Though I do not yet own a Corvette, it is my plan to do so in 2007. For the others here in my age group you no doubt know the drill - the kids grow up and move out, mortgages get paid (or become far less of a burden) and some $$ finally gets freed up to have some fun. All I can say is that it's ashame so many of us have to wait to this stage of our lives to enjoy this fantastic automobile!
I am currently driving a 2006 WRX (pics here) that I enjoy but will be unloading next year to make room for a 2007 coupe. My previous "maturity level" comment is a result of my participation on a few WRX forums - needless to say, the level of discourse in those forums is in-step with the average age of a WRX owner.
I hope you don't mind my questions in the coming months about the C6 cars as I prepare for the "ride of my life"!
Welcome ... ... while I am one of the "young guys" ... 24 ... I am in a similar boat ... just getting info for the future ...
If you can do it now, go for it! Once marriage/children come along, it's cars like a Ford Taurus/Chevy Impala for far longer that any bonafide motorhead should be required to endure!
You guys are both young, I just bought an almost new silver (8k miles) 2005 C6 for my 70th. This is my second vette. The previous one was a 92 which I kept for 12 years. I loved that car.
As a 58 year old car enthusiast and very recent first Corvette owner, I know exactly where you are coming from. Delayed gratification can be sweet. I couldn't quite swing a brand new toy so I'm hoping to get just as much fun and enjoyment from a "like new" 2002 C5 Convertible. Good luck with yours when the time comes and happy motoring.
Thanks to all for your welcome - much appreciated! Hopefully I'll be able to make this happen by mid year or so (at least that is the plan).
At least it gives me some time to figure out I want. The more time I spend on this site, the more undecided I am - just too many variations that I would be thrilled to own!
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
