Im new to the site, logged on to find info on 1978 L82 vettes, I just bought one that has been stored since 1993. Amazingly i put some fresh fuel in and a battery and it started, but did not drive it, it got trailered home. The car seems to be all original and is very good shape. But now its in my garage getting a makeover, top to bottom front to back.It is black with doe skin leather, T-tops, 4 speed muncie. If anybody has any suggestions on things to look for or tips on restoring i would greatly appreciate them.
Thanks for the welcome, and info to post pics. I have a digital camera and will work on getting before pics posted. 2 questions, 1st trying to remove seats to replace carpet, drivers seat will not forward so i can reach the back 2 bolts, 2nd what is the **** for under the dash directly below steering column. Thanks

1st question: There should be a **** in front of the seat that you slide to the right. Then, you should be able to pull the seat forward. Sometimes they're stubborn.
2nd question: The **** under the dash is to lock the headlights in place. Once the headlights are on, if you wish to keep them up after turning them off, pull the switch down. Push the switch back up to close.
Well what do you think? I will have some progress pics soon, the car is starting to look better now except it has no interior now, under the hood is getting there waiting for some more parts to come in.
thanks this is my first vette, usually have restored old pontiacs, firebirds t/a's. but i couldnt turn down this car,the price was right and could not resist. only problem i have is the car is all original, should i leave it original? or should i mod? decisions decisions, what to do. any thoughts?

I always believed older ones should be kept original.
I am leaning towards making mods to the motor, but keeping the stock appearance and stock interior. Firm beleiver that you can never have to many ponies under the hood. Suggestions for the best place to get replacement carpet, i have been using corvette america for parts and their quality is good but so is the price. Remember the wave?
