From reading previous posts, it looks like I am in the same boat as a lot of you..baby boomer...retired, last of 5 kids graduates university on May 5th. I have owned 2 Corvettes previously, but a long time ago. A '60 when I got back from Viet Nam in 1971 (paid $700 for a baby blue, two tops, mag wheels); sold that a year later (for $400) to buy a '67 red, 427 with side exhausts for $1000. Traded that two years later for a Jet Boat and matching El Camino to tow. Sure wish I had both of those Vette's back! Still into sports cars...have two Miata's...one a '94 black and tan Edition, and the other a '99 10th Anniversary Edition, Sapphire Blue with a MP62 Supercharger, w/a intercooler, BTB, etc. It's a real hot rod (for a 1.8 liter 4), that will blow the doors off any 5.0 Mustang, but it's NOT a Vette. So I looking to put it on the sell/trade block, and look real hard at a C6 or a Superformance Cobra. I am hoping by asking questions through these forums, I can get a better feel how these new Vette's are in the real world. Can't tell just from a test drive...really helps to ask owners. Thanks
Welcome to the Forum. You are right about us Baby Boomers. However, this is the first vette I have owned. It is actually better than I expected. Has a great ride, looks are great and it also gets good gas mileage (part of justification for wife ). It is my DD and I am very pleased with it. You will like it too.
