New to the forum, after owning various other sports cars over the years, I'm considering buying my first 'vette. I've always been attracted to the cars that offered a lot of bang for the buck, and the 'vette seems to be the king of that category. Currently I have an '03 Nissan 350Z which also has great price performance, but it will soon be time to move on.
My tastes currently run to coupes. I'll use it strictly as a road car, no track or drag strip days. Besides performance and reliability, I want something that has good room for luggage and stuff (22 cu ft is REAL good) and is comfortable on long road trips. Not too noisy, not overly rough ride, and comfortable seats with good lower back support. The paddle shift auto would be nice for my wife's benefit. Other than that I don't need a lot of techie bells and whistles. I go back to when it was considered a civilized sports car if it had roll-up windows.
I'm now at the stage where I'm finding out what owners do and don't like about the current Corvettes, what optional features I might want to avoid, and which ones might be must-haves. From what I've seen so far in this forum, people are very satisfied with the C6, and there don't seem to be very many problems. In contrast, if I'd looked at the 350z motoring forum before buying, I might never have bought the Z and maybe I'd be driving a C5 instead.
Well, I've only had mine for a couple of days, with the 2LT package. The car does come with more bells and whistles than I first anticipated, but it's nice to have-especially the XM radio. The only things that I'm not too fond of(but will get over it) is the apparrent feel of the clutch pedal. I think it just because its new, and kinda slippery-it affects my shifting slightly.
The only other thing-the center console sits higher than what I'm used to('99 Eclipse). Other than that, I'm overly satisfied. The sound system is the best stock system I've ever heard, the seats are really huggy, yet very comfortable, and my god the power.
Welcome to the Forum!! Sounds like you will soon be driving around with a big "corvette grin" on your face! The Forums are great for learning more about vettes and you will meet a lot of new friends.

Phoenix... they have hydraulic clutches for ease of use... makes them soft. There is a spring under the pedal that makes it easier to push down, but when shifting hard it can caust the pedal to get stickey and remain close to the floor. Most all of us remove this spring. It by no means makes the pedal hard to push in, but it gives it a more positive feel and alleviates 95% of the sticking issue.
