First post - Hi to all,
I hate to start my posts on a sour note but here goes.
First, I would like to thank this forum for the information & education I received from reading various posts especially about allocations, event codes & status #’s.
On July 27, 2007 I ordered a 2008 Corvette Coupe from a local dealer, I’m 20 mils north of Phila (Go Eagles). I was promised at that time a 6 to 8 week delivery. I was told that the dealer had three allocation spots & as I signed the papers & gave them my deposit they went right to the computer & told me they changed one of their allocations to reflect my color & options, from this writing, that was over 11 weeks ago. After 4 or 5 weeks from when the order was placed & about once a week there after I would stop at the dealer or call to see if there was any news or a delivery date yet which there never was.
Last week at the 11th week mark I stopped again and asked for an event code & factory order # (thanks to the info from this forum). They gave me a print out from the GM Dealer World Website that indicated that my car, ordered 11 weeks ago is still in the preliminary 1100 stage.
They lied to me for over 11 weeks & my order is still not allocated.
Has anyone experienced a 20 week - 5 month wait for their car?
I’m just a senior citizen trying to fulfill my life long dream & it’s not unlikely that I might not be around when my dream car finally arrives. Did anyone have any satisfaction going to a Regional GM Sales Manager or someone else at GM might be able to help me move this order along?
I think GM should more closely monitor their dealers & the dealers should not be able to cash your deposit check & access your money until your car is allocated & in the system.
Is there anything else I can do? I be thankful for anyone’s help with this situation.

Default hang in there

This is my first post because up until last week I did not have a build date for my new crystal red 2008 c6.I placed my order on July 5, 2007 and now I have confirmed museum delivery on November 5, 2007. I knew that my dealer had a low allocation but the salesman is the husband of a co-worker and was fair and honest throughout the process. Although it may be frustrating to wait it would be more frustrating to rush and not get exactly the car you want. I waited exactly 4 months and I believe I did the right thing. Good luck in your experience.

Thanks Tardis & Davesz06 for the reply - It least I know I’m not the only one being fed that line of crap. My dealer told me the delay could be the 2 day strike (that’s before I found out that my order was only at 1100). How’s a two day strike going to effect a car that’s not even ordered yet!
Thanks Again.

Welcome aboard. If you can cancel without a penalty you might consider doing so and order from one of the high volume Corvette Forum Dealers and have your Corvette built your way and even consider picking up at the National Corvette Museum so that it really doesn't matter where you are or the selling dealer. Just a thought.

I also suggest you contact the Regional GM folks to see what they can do first.

Thanks - TN 2005 c6 & kenc6
I would of had a lot more options if I started reading this forum BEFORE I went shopping. Buying from a high volume dealer & taking the Museum Delivery would have worked. I just thought buying local & getting the vette service at the dealer I bought if from, only 20 minutes from my house would be piece of mind. You know the first question the service dept asks when you make an appointment for service - “did you buy it here”.

Yup.

Go to Kerbeck's site (Atlantic City). They probably have what you want in stock for Immediate delivery & for less $$.

I did following a 6 month wait in VA.

Default Second Post - Happy Ending

Second Post - Happy Ending
My first post dealt with the frustration of signing & giving a deposit to a dealer that said he had allocations & promised me delivery in 6 to 8 weeks, only to find out 12 weeks later that my car wasn’t even an order yet.
Happy Ending:
My wife & I then drove to Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City. They had 50 - 2008 Corvettes in their show room & on the lot, all colors & options. Our salesman, Harry Boyer was great. He was courteous, knowledgeable and just made our purchase a pleasure. We took one out for a test drive & when we returned there was another Corvette parked with the motor running & Harry said try this one out it has the selective ride suspension. We test drove that one & when we returned a Z51 was fired up ready to test drive.
Then my wife & I saw the new Crystal Red color with Cashmere interior & we both knew instantly that it was the one. I signed all the papers & told Harry I didn’t have my check book with me & that I would be back on Saturday to pick up the car. Harry came back in 5 minutes with a pre-paid Fed Ex envelope & said, “take the car home with you & mail back the check” - I drove it home.
I would recommend Kerbeck Corvette and Harry Boyer to anyone looking for a new Corvette, it’s no wonder that they are the number one Corvette dealer in the world.

Nice ride you have there! With such a tough start, I am glad everything worked out for you the way it did at Kerbeck Corvette.
