Default Can someone help? Really important

I am selling my Father's vette and I believe it is a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette LT1.

People are telling me that it cannot be a LT1. It has to be a TPI.

I am trying to find the owner's manual because I know he had it but over time I have no idea where to look to find it. The car has just been sitting. I did take a picture of the inside of the car though. This is the image I found that said LT1. Is this just a part that someone replaced prior to my father owning it??

Here is the car:

Please let me know. I don't know jack about Corvettes. Thanks in advance.

Aloha and welcome to the CF, as for your C4, the 1986 was a TPI and it was rated at 230 hp. That plaque that you photographed is possibly off of a 1992 which was the LT1 rated at 300 hp.

Hope this helped.

Hey Kriston, off the wall here but why are you selling? Did your father pass away or are you selling it for him? Just curious!

You think he possibly swapped out the engine in that car and then slapped a sticker on it or maybe he just slapped a sticker on it? I don't know anything about C4's. Are the engines exchangeable between those years?

If you can just pop the hood and snap a pic and post it.. an lt1 has a flat looking intake/with black plastic covers & valve covers and the L98 (TPI) intake stands up a bit (you can see under it) and has runners is all silver and gray valve covers...Hope this helps

LT1

L98 (TPI)

Steve, thanks that was the best way to show the difference between the two engines are they interchangeable, yes they are althought the ECU might have to be changed.

Keeping it would be a nice memory of Dad.

I recommend that you contact a local Corvette Club. Someone may be familiar with the car and your Dad. In any event they will have to see tha car to evaluate it. JMHO.
