newbie reporting for duty!
Greetings and happy holidays!
My name is Pat and I live in Tucson, AZ
Since forums are all about pics and long stories, here goes!
My Dad bought a 1980 Vette in 1983 when I was a teen. As I got older and got my license, I was allowed to drive it for special occasions (Prom, Homecoming, dates, etc). Below is a picture of it in the summer of '86 with me (beard), and my 3 younger brothers.
I am holding Mark and Mike is in the Browns shirt. This was the summer before I left for the Army. Fwiw, I just retired from the Army this past June I looked being 17 with a beard - never got carded.
Anyways, that is the vette behind us. Silver with claret interior. I loved that car. Always wanted to get a vette someday.
fast forward to 2002. Mike calls me and brags how he got the vette from Mark. I did not know my dad had given it away Worse yet, he tells me Mark trashed it and he was going to fix it up. Again, jealous but figured someday I would have my own.
I almost bought one in 2006, after returning from Iraq, but as I looked it over I kept wishing it was the one I grew up with.
Thanksgiving 2007 - I finally drive to houston to visit Mike and in the driveway is THE vette - trashed. I just sat in the truck and stared for a good minute. My wife looked at me and said "oh boy". My kids were laughing. I was in pain.
I gave Mike a hard time about not fixing it up and he gave me a list of things he did fix. I was not happy with the progress and offered to buy it from him, and then poured on the charm until he agreed.
I got a trailer and hauled it home to Tucson. She now sits in my drive under a cover as I begin the task of restoring her.
As you can see I have my work cut out for me.
I have started from the front. I just rebuilt the headlights and got a new vacuum system for it. I have other things working and will certainly call on this community for advice and direction.
thanks for reading and I hope to gain valuable insight from you all! You also now know why I chose this forum name

Welcome aboard... and keep us posted in the C3 forum with progress on your project. I am still trying to pry my Mom's 75' Stingray 4 speed away from her.... My brother and I stripped all the paint off of it in 1991and it still sits in the paint booth waiting to be revived...

Looks like you have your work cut out for you - lol, but it will be more than worth all the effort when she's completed.
