"Ok, so getting used to this forum process thing" I posted this same message on ccrazor's thread." I'll get there eventually.
Glad to be among those that speak the same language. Originally from Wisconsin, but after 21 years in the Army moved to the metro Detroit area (Port Huron, MI). I'm by inheritance a huge Harley and Vette finatic. I have owned a wide range of Vettes along the way but my most recent purchase is a 69 that the previous owner began a frame off and either ran out of cash or got tired of the seemingly never ending effort. I will say that he was an **** retentive engineer (like me) and did the drive train with meticulous attention to detail. All I have to do to finish the car is the body and interior (which some of came in boxes with the car).
It is by far original however it can be brought back with little effort. It currently has a 383 stroker crate motor that has very few miles on it (maybe 1000) but I was also given the original matching numbers (freshly blue printed) 350/300 on a stand. I would stick the original engine back in but geeeeeeeze that 383 runs strong and sounds like a popcorn popper on steroids. It must have been wrecked along the way because it has a 70-71 front clip on it but that will be corrected real soon.
I have no intentions on ever showing it so I'm not one of those types that has to have everything exactly the way it came out of the box (although nothing wrong with the ones that do prefer original only).
I just like to play with Vettes and enjoy them the way I want to in my own way.
Take care everyone and looking forward to talking with you frequently. Particularly interested in C-3 oriented discussions however all are interesting to me.
Aloha and welcome to the CF, first I would like to thank you for the great services that you provided for our country. You certainly deserve to have your toys as most of us here have. The 69 is a classic and I can imagine that 383 stroker motor in it a small block with big block torque and horsepower. Post up pictures as we do love to see pictures and don't forget to save the wave.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the 69.
I too would like to see pictures. I picked up a brand new 69 from the factory in St. Louis on Dec 10th 1968. Vivid memories...Donn
