New member with first Vette.
Last summer while at my summer home in Montana in little Lewistown population 5000 a guy decided to do a u-turn in front of me and my 1993 Harley FXR Anniversary model. To make a long story short I received massive left foot damages and the bike was totalled.
Now a little older and wiser with a big limp, I've decided to get smart and get out of bikes and try the thrill of a sports car. Always loving Corvettes I started searching the local used market and found this one on Ebay from a ex airline pilot that is so particular about his stuff the car is mint throughout. I bid and now am the proud owner of this beauty!

I test drove her and was so impressed at the power, sound, fit and finish, lateral (go cart feel I call it) ability to quickly pull from lane to lane at 60 or 70 (it scared me when he did this demo).
The car is art! Why haven't I done this years before? I have so much to learn and study on this forum.
My wife's not much of a car/bike enthusiast but after he gave her a ride in this she got out all grins and is jazzed as I about "red beauty".
I am assembling the money for this Wednesday's delivery and can't wait.
Appreciate any feedback from members about any recommendations about ownership on this beauty. I will do a lot of reading to learn but any real important issues to first tend to would be appreciated.
This will be garaged in my home in So Cal (Hemet) and used for fun runs and to stare at. I'll probably take pictures of her by the thousands in the driveway.
Thanks everyone!
Dave
And Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!! IMO (in my opinion) the Mag Red II is one of the sharpest colors on the C6 and with the Cashmere interior it is very classy. You made a great purchase. It looks like the car is loaded with the 1SB Preferred Equipment Group (heads up, heated seats, etc). I didn't see that the add mentioned the performance axle (3.15 ratio). There were some important Technical Service Bulletins on the 05's that you should ask the seller about (roof separation, dead battery syndrome, crank pulley loosening). If he doesn't know or these weren't done you should get the car evaluated right away. A couple of the members here can run the VIN and tell you the car's history if you wish or you could just try the local dealer.
Be sure to post some pics as soon as you can, we love pictures here. Here is the Help Tutorial on posting pictures if you need it:

There is a lot to learn about these cars so I hope to see you participating in C6 General right away.
One more thing, it isn't required but it would be nice if you filled in your profile so folks will know a little about you and your car. It helps when answering your questions in the future. Plus it is just friendlier when we know a little about each other. Thanks.

He said at about 3000 miles the left or right rear panel, can't remember, was making a strange noise when backing. He took it in and they saw the rear end had the wrong fluid in it from the factory and the splines were wore. They replaced those and all's good now at 24k miles.
As far as the battery goes, he says he has had no problem with the original one. He and I have read about the stories of how you can't get out of the car with a dead battery. He's showed me the "manual get out levers" so see's this as a none issue.
He did say that the run flat free tires are expensive like $450 each. He said that an old Corvette executive he knows told him to save money on tires is to buy regular low profile quality tires at say $225 each and carry two cans of flat charger. Anyone with an opinion of this cost cutting story?
My VIN is 1G1YY24U255114993 so if anyone can inlighten me as to any issues with my new Vette I would like the help and pay you via Pay Pal for any research I should know about either good or bad. Please run the costs for research by me first.
I will do a lot of research before asking previous hashed over items.
Thanks
Dave

Or you could do the same to bubbatex. Here is a link with a sample of the report you can get back. The car represented didn't have anything interesting to look at but at least you can see what you get.

As to the battery issue. It wasn't so much bad batteries (there were some) but GM sent out a software flash to remedy the problem. If your car hasn't had the DBS reflash you should probably get it done just so you have the latest software whether there is a problem or not.
As to the flat tires, there is a consensus of opinion that any of the "fix a flat" in a can products adversely affect the TPMS modules in the wheels. It is not a recommended procedure. Most who use non runflat tires take along a plug kit and 12v air compressor.
