After dropping in here as a visitor over the past few months, I found my first Corvette at a dealer in Chicago - a 2002 Torch Red coupe with 14,000 miles. After my brother-in-law (a Z06 owner) checked it out, I flew out to pick it up. Talk about love at first sight. After visiting family for a few days, I drove back to San Diego, loving every mile, and luckily avoiding state troopers in Oklahoma (one stopped me "just to chat"). The car averaged just under 30 MPG for the trip, including several long stints over 90).
I've owned BMW Z3s for the past six years, but I've always coveted Corvettes. At 56, I figured it was time, and I have no regrets. After getting home, I installed an ARK DT-S exhaust and Blackwing cold air intake. Very happy with both products.
Thanks for all the great information on the forum. I look forward to taking part in the discussions.
Welcome and congrats on your first Corvette. Sounds like you had a great trip. When you get it all cleaned up, let's have a look at it. Enjoy your new ride and let me give you a wave.
Just a little FYI, it is advised not to reference or insinuate breaking any laws on purpose here. It generally gets posts locked by admins. I would not be surprised if this post gets littered with IB4TL posts too.
Again, congrats, sounds like a sweet car. Sometime post some sound clips of that exhaust!
Oh and let me be the first to say "this thread is worthless without pics"
Now that I've officially given you a hard time, go enjoy that vette!
Congrats on your new ride. This forum will help you so much in the future, everyone here has helped me with the most serious to most minor questions. This site is great, and I know you'll love the car.
First, welcome to the forum. The knowledge here is incredible! the folks ain't too bad either. Chicago to Ca? what a great way to get to know your new car, congrats!
Our first Corvette was purchased in Phoenix AZ, we flew there, visited relatives in Tucson then drove home. We had HUGE smiles all the way home. What a great experience. Again, congrats. David
