I'm 54 years old, live in Los Altos, CA, and just purchased my second Vette. First was a 2001 Millenium Yellow coupe. Loved it to death, but it was time: Almost 7-1/2 years old, had over 91,000 miles on it, and I was starting to have to put real money into it, since my extended warranty expired last fall.
Got a good deal on an '08 1LT coupe from Courtesy in Morgan Hill. The car is set up exactly the way I wanted: Velocity Yellow (although I looked long and hard at the CRM) with Z51 and nothing else on it. Also got back 35% of what I paid for my '01 on a trade-in. Whole negotiation took less than 2 hrs.
Getting a lot of great information by reading the forum, which I hadn't done before. In particular, I found Chris Aude's name and phone # re the squeaky targa roof problem. Talked to Chris and Paul Dines (sp?) directly and they were terrific. Chris actually Fed Ex'ed some new latches to my sales guy at Courtesy, and Paul walked the service manager through what had to be done. Four days and counting with the new latches, and not a peep so far.
As much as I loved my '01, the new Vette is wonderful. Steering is tighter, handling is better (I got the Z51 package to eliminate the slight body roll I got with the '01 when I put Firestones on it), and the power comes on much more smoothly. Only thing it needs is a couple of drives to the Coast.
Really looking forward to the Sept. 7 show here in Los Altos and to continuing to get great information from the forum.
