I have been on the outside looking in for the last two years and finally decided to register. I have received a lot of good information from this site and occasionally wanted to add my comments. I am a power train engineer at Ford. I am currently working on South America flex fuel engine calibrations.
I have a 1953 Corvette that my dad purchased in 1964. Over the years he tore it down in intentions of restoration. It sat in his garage in pieces for over 10 years. Getting tired of looking at it, I finally brought the car home piece by piece and restored it so he could drive it.
The car was originally owned by a GM executive who installed a prototype V8 with a 53' casting date on the engine block. The car was ran on the GM test track and he also ice raced in Lake Orion MI. There are other parts on the vehicle and engine with prototype tags and numbers. The car is not stock and is a driver.
These pictures were taken last year and since than have made some improvments. The engine now is at the machine shop and will be rebuilt by us. The original dual 4 barrel carbs. will be installed at that time.
