Hello To All
My Name is Joe,I've been a licenced auto mechanic since 1989 but I no longer work in the trade,I've wanted my own Vette ever since I lowered & aligned a new C4 in '93 & road tested it.There just wasn't enough road available to reach sixth gear! I knew then I had to get one some day.
Anyway,I live in Canada, province Alberta, city Edmonton (I hope you all don't hate Canadians) and I've already found a lot of useful information about my car on your forum; Intelligent, meaningful discussions, and even some arguments , but in all, great info from people that know & love their cars.(like me)
This April I flew to Anaheim and purchased my '06 Black on Black, 1LT Paddle Shift Coupe. No HUD(I regret it now).It had 8,000 Kilometers(5,000 Miles) on it. I really enjoyed the drive back, I Love US roads!!, and the traction control held it own when I hit the mountains in Montana during the last snow storm of the season & the weather only got worse as I crossed the border into Alberta (this muscle car is no good in the snow people, avoid it at all cost!); Surprisingly,my lady Slept through most of it while my butt cheeks puckered, the ride quality is that good!
I haven't been able to stop driving since people,I Love This Car!! I've got it up to 21,000+ Kilometers now and have I amassed a Whack of speeding tickets!! I'll probably loose my licence, but it was worth every 160 mile an hour flight down the black tops that divide the farm country surrounding my city. (I do my racing alone, out where if I lose it, no one gets hurt but me and the car. It's just me in my Vette , and the cops of course.) It reads as if I'm a selfish bastard, but I'm hoping a group of people like yourselves can understand how this machine makes me feel; Most of my friends and family can not.
There just isn't any decent race tracks around here!!!
I've also been doing upgrades; So far:Z51 size rotors from Baer & race brake pads(worth every penny, major improvement),Hotchkis hollow tube sway bars(again, major improvement for a 1LT with the soft suspension),lowered 7/8" using the OEM adjusters(caster, camber & toe were not affected so as to require wheel alignment,no tire wear). Next on the menu are: !!!RADAR DETECTOR !!!, intake manifold, cam shaft, twin turbos........
Right now I'm reading up on the Top De lamination Issue, the wind noise is deafening after 140 MPH. I also have to resolve the transmission 2-3 Upshift Shift Slip or Flare as GM call it.The dealership put in a PCM update program but it didn't take(it a major fun damper during cold tranny driving). If anyone knows a quick link to discussion on this issue could you please send it to me?
I hope to resolve with GM before my warranty runs out.
Anyway, thanks for reading , and I'll continue to do the same; learning from your experience, asking the odd question, & enjoying all your beautiful Vette Pics.
Thanks & regards,
Joe
