I bought a friends vette after he became ill and promised to bring her back to life like never b4. Even though I was a chevy guy to the bone, I never liked the C4 corvettes that much. For some reason the C3's always made my jaw drop and bring a tear to my eye. If it had a blower or duel quads I needed a towel!
But his 89' coupe had a oddball/rare body package or kit from the factory or atleast the orig. owner; not sure what to believe. So it did have a sexy Euro look that does grab ones eye, unlike the "plain jane" C4's. It had a rod knock so I had the motor rebuilt with a stock crank and up redo. Got the car back A YEAR later because the mechanic that said he could do it didn't have a clue on what he was getting into. Never the less the lower block is done right, now it was my turn to figure the TPI,ECM and the rest out.
This is where this forum came into play a short time later. Knowning only ol' skool sb's with points and holleys I was dumbfounded. Bought the books and what not but still fell short on getting her to run 100%. As I learned the code pulling and sensor checking 101 the motor became less and less scary to work on. Over the summer came to find out its was bad injectors and a crack fuel pick-up line stopping her to scream to life. This ofcourse is after trying ever other possible problem (atleast I know all the sensors, etc are new)
.Well 245hp isn't enough by far for me. So with the help of this forum I've done the following upgrades. Chip, "FIC" matched design II's, BBK 58mm, rollor 1.6's and what not. Next to come is the cam, heads and intake this winter. By summer take it in for it new rear end guts (3.50ish maybe
). Then the bodywork-n-paint work
I'm now in love with the C4 I own and ever so happy I bought it. When it's done maybe then I can get a 70' c3 with 454 and b&m blower with side pipes ofcourse....
:'s for the win!
