My children's '67, 427 coopay, (it used to be mine, for 30 years, now custodial, I geuss) was next to a garage that burnt down. The left rear got scorched, not blackened or melted, but a little hairy. That was two years ago. The FD did a number on it and I dutifully sent it off to a shop with a 'good' reputation. They did 20 hours of work on it in 560 days. Guy at Eckler's said this happens all the time, classics get stolen, friends get parts, etc. etc. So I got it back. Retired from a life in manufacturing; I build solar panels, batteries, computers and believe that stuff about not letting your brain go soggy. But I hate itchy stuff, and pulling tape off my face that I need to hold the mask good.
So I'm doing the research and the preliminary on re-attaching some panels, checking the wiring and redoing the interior, etc. I've never been fanatic about 'original,' since discovering that the factory ignition sucked and installing Mallory which never gave me the same problems. The tri-power is a conversation piece on a coffee table and a Holley 7003 puts gas in it without agjustment every time the weather changes. Hi.! Everbody! I can be found in the garage in Lake Forest.
