Plastastic signing on...
I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Pat, I'm 59, and I've owned a 1973 "454" Corvette since the mid 1980's.
Back in the day, we used to call the Corvette the "Plastic Fantastic", so I combined elements of that to come up with my user name, "plastastic".
We loaded the Vette into a shipping container with our other belongings when we moved to Hawaii in 1993. The car had suspension problems at that time, so it sat for a while.
I went through it in 1999-2000 and drove it over here for a while; but insurance is high here, so it sat for the most part while I worked and paid off a new Chevy truck, which is my main set of wheels now.
I got hurt on the job and was laid up from 2005 through 2008, during which time the car sat on blocks in our garage. Wasn't able to do much with it during that time.
I went back to work and for the last year I've been getting my physical strength back, so lately I've gotten into going through the Vette again. She's running, but I've got some work to do. Tranny seals leak. Gas tank is rusty. Needs a muffler. And the urethane nose disintegrated.
This forum has already been helpful as a source of information and links. Good to know there's a bunch of like-minded people available that I can reach by computer; especially since I'm about 2000 miles out in the middle of the ocean!

Anyway, just wanted to sign on to say Howdy and Thanks. I'll probably be posting to the C3 board from time-to-time: when I have questions, or if I have any info to share.
Aloha! And have a great Memorial Day!

Pat
(aka "Plastastic")
Good to hear that your doing better now, that must of been a long hard recovery. Good luck getting your 73 fully recovered as well. Hope the two of you are back on the road soon.

I have some pictures of my Vette here in Hawaii...there in a box in the gym closet, I think. As soon as I find and scan them, I'll post some pics of my 'chine.
One cool thing about a 'Vette: you never outgrow them. (Same-same my Harley.) I'll hit the big Six-Oh this Summer, and still enjoy driving it. God willing, that car will still be turning heads when I'm 80.
Well, it's a sunny day, and I'm headed downstairs to the garage. Thanks for the hearty welcome, and for the help I've received so far with my hood release problem. Great Group you have here.

Best regards,
Plastastic Pat
