HELLO..no vette ...YET!!
thought i would introduce myself, i joined this forum so i can hopefully get all the info on the vette before i buy one(may be 1-6 months). so far my knowlege about the vette is limited. im leaning towards a 05 because i dont like the pop up headlights as much and the interiour looks a little more up to date. (not that there is anything wrong with the other vettes, nor have i decided against a 01-04's because they are still beautiful cars and at such great prices right now.)
i really wanted a hard top convertable but i also wanted it to be electric (like the lex sc450)...and i dont think that has ever been a option on a vette (too bad), so i will be looking for a targa top.
other than the obvious what are the differences between auto and manual in the vette? does either tranny have known issues? what is more common?
is the 2005 called the C6? and the 04 is the C5?
for me the mods will be my usual rims, tint, and some sort of mods to lighting like HID's or tinting tail lights etc(the goal is completly blacked out for my vette).
to be completly honest, i am not looking to put a bunch of power to the ground, and i will most likely drive this car like a 70yr old (i am 25 btw) i just really love vettes and have decided it is about time to start looking for one considering the markets crashing. i have not decided yet if i will be selling my CTS or my truck, but most likely 1 of the 2 will have to go, i really love 4x4 but the caddy is soo much nicer i may just have to deal with ontario snow and rwd
Best of luck finding the right Vette!! Enjoy the car and the Forums. You pose a lot of questions. Rather than try to answer completely here I will direct you to the C6 General Forum. And yes, C5's are 1997-2004 and C6's are 2005-present. You do need an education if looking for a 2005. Since it was the first year of the new generation there are some issues you need to be aware of. They aren't bad cars, you just need to be armed with information when looking. Just head over to C6 Gen and introduce yourself as a new guy and you need info to help you shop for a 2005.

1-6 months is going to be an accelerated course before purchase. Expect to spend a lot of time learning abt these cars to avoid errors in that short a time.

i cant wait to get a new car, i need to make sure this one is exactly what i want, i always settle and miss out on something i origionally wanted and then regret it the whole time i own the car....but with used cars you dont always get exactly what you want.
