c3 birdcage rust

c3 birdcage rust
Anybody dealt with replacing the birdcage on a c3? I am building one for a customer and have never built a vette. The birdcage is in very bad shape and all the repairs I can find include cutting off the fiberglass. Any other way!?!?!?
