Hey all. I am new to Corvettes. The Corvette I have is not mine, but a finishing of a started restoration by my buddy's dad. His dad started the resto, but heart conditions prevented him from completing it, so he gave the Vette to my buddy.
Let me start first by describing the car. It is a 1977 L82 Corvette. From what I understand, this car came equipped from the factory with a big block. I may be wrong about that though. The engine has been replaced with a 1965 327. It has headers and side pipes. The car has been repainted and all of the body work is complete. The seats have been reupholstered in black leather and new carpet has been installed. It has the original aluminum spoke rims and knockoffs with new tires. All in all, the restoration is about 75% done.
I have to install the door glass, reinstall the rear window trim, install all of the hoses for the brakes, cooling and fuel systems, plumb the vacuum lines for the headlights, hook up the wiring in the engine bay, fix the hood release cable, install the cross flag emblems and install the antenna. I have boxes of parts to sort through, but I feel that I am up to the challenge.
He is really wanting just to drive the car to show and shines and drive it on the street every once in a while. Obviously, he is not worried about being correct with the car, he is just excited about having a Corvette!
Any help and hints I can get in this project would be more than helpful. The bonus I get from this is a 1984 Chevy stepside with rebuilt 350 and tranny tucked inside a freshly repainted body and a 20' trailer when the car is done.
Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!! That is a story. Best of luck with the project and your reward afterward. Enjoy the Forums.
I suggest you head over to the C3 General Forum and do another quick intro of what you have and what you are doing. The C3 owners there know those cars inside-out and will help you.
And since everyone here is a picture hound, here is a tutorial on posting pics here using photobucket to host them on the internet. It's free and what most of us use:
