Been lurking around the site for a while, and thought it about time to register. The beautiful cars and seemingly bottomless well of information may finally get me off my butt to build my car.
My 78 (with 82 front clip and rear bumper) has been with me since I think 85. It has molded on fiberglass bumpers, a mild 350, and was at the time I guess what is now called a resto-mod. I drove it as a toy until 87, then as a driver for about 18 months. The lacquer cracked and things were getting seedy, so I put it away while I moved intending to give it a makeover. . . . . .
Well, life got in the way. That was August of 89, and it is still waiting. The plan is to start next winter to restore it into a stock appearing car leaning heavily to the pro-touring under the skin.
Hopefully some type of LS motor, overdrive trans, upgrade suspension, and rack & pinion steering. It was flame red, but it may be blue or charcoal this time around. Not sure I can handle the mid-life crisis jokes of the red Corvette. (Does that count if you have had it since 21?)
Been looking at the VBP transverse front suspension. I am a little concerned about ground clearance . . . I tend to use my toys, not just show them, and I don't want to have to be paranoid. Hopefully someone here can give me real world advice on the setup.
Anyway . . . happy to be here, thanks for having me. I'll post a picture after I figure out which pile of junk in the garage has the Vette under it. Uh, I just moved again.
