Hi all. I'm a new vette owner and couldn't be happier about it!! I sold my 2005 Harley-Davidson Fatboy and used the money to buy a 2002 convertible. I got it from a dealer with only 35k miles on it. Including a 3yr/36k mile warranty, I got it out the door for $20,300. Even my insurance company said it was a good deal since they showed the value at $23k. Now if someone steals it I'll have $3k more to buy another one. ;-)
Now for a few questions....I've heard the norm is honking to other owners but so far, it seems everyone waves. So which is more accurate?
Another one is regarding the tires. It does not have run-flat tires and I mentioned that to the dealer and they said no worries. Obviously they wanna get the car off the lot and I wasn't going to pass on it just for that. However, if I did get a flat, can a tow company get it jacked up? My next set will be run flats but I don't wanna get rid of nearly new tires if I don't have to, nor spend that much money so quickly.
Look forward to learning lots by reading on....probably even the answers to my questions. However, since I was posting anyway I thought I'd throw them in here.
Welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your C5!! Enjoy the car and the Forums.
The proper etiquette is to "Wave".
Without runflats you should carry a portable air compressor and some plugs or, maybe, some fix-a-flat in a can stuff but you have to be careful to use the type that won't damage the tire pressure sensors in the wheels. Here's some reading material I saved from the C6 Forum:
Post your questions on the C5 general section, the wave is what us Vette owner's do, I had run flats but took them off for non run flats (a lot better ride and less noise). Do a search and it will tell you what to carry in case you get a flat.
