Hey Kempfs - I'm also an Engineer - construction company commander in RVN, then many jobs on active duty and the Reserves afterward. Been retired 16 years now. Thanks for your service - the idea of urban war chills me. Glad you're back.
I've always had an interest in Vettes - even covered Vettes in competition for a while for one of the minor Corvette clubs. Gotta admit that the C1 and C4 didn't do much for me, but the Z06 is just unusual enough to make me sit up and take notice again. I'm at an age where I can still drive whatever I want, but that will be last only another 5 or so years if my hips continue to deteriorate. The Alfa (I've owned 14) will go to my daughter and son-in-law, but I wanted to get something my GM-focused son would enjoy inheriting. He's got a '79 that he's made into an interesting car, and I think he'd be a great person to preserve a Z06 when I'm done struggling to get in and out...LOL!
I'll have my Alfa for quite a while yet - it is easier to get in and out of than a Vette, but I do like interesting cars to drive on a regular basis too.
