Hi All,
My daily driver is a 95 Camaro Z-28 which I also have used as a track car on weekends. Last time out I had a catastrophic rear brake failure which locked up the left rear and spun the car into the surrounding desert. This is the day I learned what a bad idea it is to use a daily driver as a track car. So I have acquired an 86 Corvette which I intend to use as a track only car. This C4 needs alot of work, so I expect that I will be asking many questions in the coming months. It has an interesting history, although I cannot prove all of it is true. It has the "Indianapolis pace car" option with the 4 speed manual + overdrive. At some point it was given the Guldstrand GSS treatment although I haven't confirmed this. I am told that the motor is a 383 built by Traco. This also has not been confirmed but it does have aluminum heads, no cats and serious horsepower. This C4 has been abused and neglected for at least a decade, paint is bad and the soft top is well ventillated. I think it is a perfect candidate for track use.
I am very anxious to drive it but I am pretty broke so it is moving slowy. Wish me luck!
Congratulations on your track Corvettte & Welcome to the Forum! As you've already seen lots of great information & knowledgeable Vette owners here! Best of Luck on the project!
